Changes have occurred
on the earths atmosphere, global warming is with us now effecting The refrigeration and air conditioning industry has had to take action as refrigeration has had to take action as refrigerants used in the past have been adding to the depletion of the ozone layer. CFC refrigerants used (R11, R12 and R502) are now banned from use as of the 1st of January 2001, interim refrigerants now replace these, R409A and R408A but again could be phased out as soon as 2005. HCFC refrigerants such as R22 and the interim refrigerants could be phased out as soon as 2005. Alternative refrigerants are available on new equipment, the refrigeration industry have leaned towards R404A and R134a. Air conditioning systems are worked on R22 now manufactures have acted bringing in new refrigerants R410A and R407C. What do you do? Any new equipment you purchase ask what refrigerant it is on? Any new installation
should be pressure/leak tested to minimize leakage.
